The electricity bonus for physical discomfort is a discount on the electricity bill for people with a serious illness due to which they have to use electromedical equipment, i.e. electronic instruments that are indispensable for keeping a sick person alive.

The electricity bonus for physical discomfort can be claimed by the sick person or by a person living with the sick person.

You must apply for the Electricity Bonus for physical discomfort to the municipality of residence of the holder (intestatario) of the electricity utility (even if it is different from the sick person).

What documents are required? / Quali documenti servono?

To apply for the electricity bonus for physical discomfort you need

• an ASL certificate specific to this bonus. (Attention: you cannot use other certificates, such as disability certificates)
• the identity document and tax code (codice fiscal) of the person submitting the application
• the identity document and tax code of the sick person, if different from the applicant

You then need some information that can be found on your utility bill or in your electricity contract:  

• The POD code
• the committed or available power of the electricity supply

How long does the Electricity Bonus request last for physical discomfort? / Quanto dura la richiesta del Bonus energia elettrica per disagio fisico?

The bonus does not have to be renewed every year.

The discount on the electricity bill is granted until the sick person stops using the electromedical equipment.

When the sick person stops using these instruments, the holder (intestatario) of the electricity utility must notify the company supplying the electricity. If he fails to do so, and continues to receive the bonus without being entitled to it, he will be obliged to return this sum of money.

Attention! / Attenzione!

If the sick person's home has a condominium electricity utility, a transfer will be made instead of a discount on the bill.

The electricity discount continues to be given without interruption even if one changes the electricity contract (company and supply conditions) or if the contract holder is changed. (The holder must, however, always be resident with the sick person). If the contract is headed to (intestato) a person who does not live with the sick person, the bonus will not be granted anymore.
