The power of attorney / La procura

It is a document with which you appoint another person (attorney) to carry out legal acts in your name. (You can appoint any adult resident in Italy as a proxy).

In the procedure for obtaining the residence permit for self-employment, the power of attorney is needed:

  • when you have to ask for documents in Italy but you are abroad and you cannot come to Italy to ask for them in person.

How do I ask for it? Come la chiedo?

  • If you are already in Italy:
    to make a power of attorney you have to go to a notary. The notary writes the power of attorney in Italian.
  • If you are not in Italy:
    to make a power of attorney you must go to the competent authority to do this act in your country.
  • If he power of attorney is in a foreign language:
    it must belegalized by the Consulate or Embassy (or have the Apostille stamp) and be translated into Italian with a certified translation by the Consulate or Embassy or by an official translator;
  • If the power of attorney is in Italian:
    it must only be legalized by the Consulate or the Embassy (or have the Apostil stamp).
